Enrolling at PCS West: Is It Time?

At Provident Charter School West (PCS West), parents often tell us how relieved they are to be at our school, and that they wish they wouldn’t have waited to enroll. Are you a parent that is considering making a school change? It can be a tough decision, and you may be wondering if the timing is right. Here are some questions to consider in making your choice, along with ways that PCS West is providing solutions.

Here are some questions to consider in making your choice, along with ways that PCS West is providing solutions.

Is your child struggling academically?

Many students with language-based learning differences fall behind in traditional classroom settings. Is your child struggling to keep up with lessons? Are they not reading at grade level?

What to expect at PCS West

Students with dyslexia and language-based learning differences require teachers who are trained in methods that fit their abilities. At PCS West, we staff two full-time professional teachers in every classroom and maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio. We group students into small groups paced to individual learning abilities, and a daily remediation block for reading and math gives our teachers extra time to address individual learning needs. The results speak for themselves: our students are prepared to thrive in their next educational setting when they leave our school.

Is homework too challenging?

Does your child struggle to complete homework assignments that other students can accomplish in one setting?

What to expect at PCS West

You may be surprised to learn that PCS West doesn’t assign homework! Studies have shown that more homework in elementary school does not translate into higher scores on standardized tests. At PCS West, we work hard on academics during the school day so our students can go home and enjoy time with family and friends, explore new interests and just be kids.

Does your child dislike going to school?

It’s understandable that students who are not thriving in a traditional classroom setting wouldn’t want to go to school. In addition to academic struggles, students with language-based learning differences often face social challenges by peers, feeling like they don’t “fit in” and struggling to make deeper friendships.
